The Former Constituency Chairman for Fomena, Kwasi Nti, has been accused of contributing immensely to the failure of Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, aka COKA, to secure the mandate of delegates in the just-ended Ashanti Regional executives elections.
According to facts emerging, the decision by the COKA camp to involve the embattled ex-Chairman in their campaign to lead the party in the region may have contributed to their defeat.
Reports indicate that most of the constituency executives were not happy with the utterances of Kwasi Nti on radio and other media outlets during the course of the campaign.
They observed that Chairman Kwasi Nti unjustifiably used the campaign period as a platform to settle personal scores with Chairman Wontumi, despite benefitting hugely from his magnanimity.
The former Fomena Constituency Chairman, who has now become a ‘political outcast’ in his own constituency, spent several months hopping from one radio and TV station to another denigrating Chairman Wontumi, in his quest to bring COKA to power.
According to party members, Chairman Kwasi Nti resorted to “peddling lies” and propaganda with the view of denigrating Chairman Wontumi, under the guise of campaigning for the camp of Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah.
They said his needless rantings and the fact that Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah failed to call him to order, apparently infuriated the delegates.
To some of the constituency executives, even though they were fully aware of the benefits Kwasi Nti gained from the government through the help of Chairman Wontumi, he (Kwasi Nti) chose to exhibit the highest form of greediness and ingratitude towards the former.
They alleged that Kwasi Nti took One Million Ghana Cedis (Ten Billion Old Cedis) from the party before agreeing to resign from his position as Constituency Chairman as a condition to secure the support of the MP for Fomena and Second Deputy Speaker, Amoako Asiamah.
Apart from that, they also said Kwasi Nti had acquired several government contracts through the instrumentality of Chairman Wontumi from GetFund and other sources but yet went from one media house to another claiming he had not received anything from working with Chairman Wontumi.
The party members said Chairman Odeneho refused to adhere to consistent advice from some constituency executives leading to his defeat.
