Kwakye-Ackah withdraws independent candidature for Amenfi Central 2024 Parliamentary Election

Hon. Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah, the Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, has announced his withdrawal from the 2024 Amenfi Central parliamentary election.

The announcement was made on Monday, November 18, 2024, through an official press statement, citing the High Court and Electoral Commission’s decision to clear the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the elections as the basis for his decision.

“Pursuant to the decision by the High Court and the Electoral Commission to clear the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for this year’s election, I believe that my reasons for filing to contest the election as an independent candidate are no longer tenable,” Kwakye-Ackah stated.

The MP expressed gratitude to the elders and leading members of the NDC for their guidance in making this decision, describing it as being in the supreme interest of the party.

“I would like to thank the elders of the party and other leading members of the party for their invaluable counsel that has led to this decision,” he added.

Kwakye-Ackah called for unity as the political landscape in Amenfi Central shifts with all eyes now be on the NDC’s parliamentary candidate as they gear up for what promises to be a closely contested election.
