Lariba Zuweira Abudu: Walewale MP withdraws from NPP primary

The Member of Parliament for the Walewale, Lariba Zuweira Abudu, has announced her decision to step down from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary for the constituency.

This follows an inconclusive re-run which was marred by an incident preventing the Electoral Commission from declaring a result.

In a statement, Lariba Zuweira Abudu expressed her decision to prioritize the unity and peace of the NPP and the Walewale constituency.

“In the interest of the greater good of the New Patriotic Party and peace and unity in the Walewale constituency, I will no longer be a candidate for MP in the 2024 elections,” she stated.

The Walewale MP who has represented the constituency for the past four years, thanked the party for their support and pledged her continued backing in the 2024 election campaign.

“I can assure the party of my continued support in the 2024 election campaign,” she added.

Her withdrawal leaves her staunch contender, Dr. Kabiru Mahama as a possible candidate for Walewale as the NPP gears up for the national elections.
