Veteran Ghanaian actress Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono, celebrated her 80th birthday and 60 years in the entertainment industry on Saturday, September 7. The event, held at The Underbridge event centre in East Legon, Accra, honored her immense contributions to Ghanaian entertainment.
As part of the celebration, Grace Omaboe launched her memoir, ‘Unforgettable Maame Dokon’, which offers readers a look into her remarkable career and personal journey. The occasion was graced by numerous Ghanaian music stars, actors, and media personalities, many of whom had worked alongside her on the beloved television show ‘Obra.’
This show, as highlighted during the event, was one of Ghana’s most popular and longest-running TV drama programme, captivating audiences for over 20 years.
One of the highlights of the evening was a brief documentary video that showcased Grace Omaboe’s life journey, including the origins of her famous nickname, “Maame Dokono.”
The video provided attendees with a reflective moment, celebrating the beloved actress’ impactful and memorable career, highlighting not only her influence on audiences but also the profound impact she has had on those closest to her.
