Rita Sowah retains La Dade-Kotopon parliamentary seat

 

Madam Rita Naa Odoley Sowah has successfully retained the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency seat for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for a second term.

She secured 46,728 votes, representing 64.1 per cent of the total valid votes cast.

Her closest rival, Joseph Kwashie Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), received 23,217 votes, or 31.9 per cent of the valid votes.

Independent candidates Messrs Abbey David Anortey and Vincent Sowah Odotei garnered 290 and 2,621 votes, respectively.

Earlier in the day, Madam Sowah, speaking to the Ghana News Agency after casting her ballot, had predicted a victory margin of at least 60 per cent.

She had stated, “I know the good people of La Dade Kotopon are going to retain me, and we are looking at a margin of around 55 to 60 percent.”

Upon the declaration of the results, Madam Sowah expressed deep gratitude to the people of La Dade Kotopon for their trust and confidence, noting that her victory margin had exceeded her expectations.
