Mahama appoints Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono as Acting Director-General of GPHA

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Brigadier-General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono as the Acting Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).

Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono, a distinguished military officer and legal professional, currently serves as the Deputy Commandant of the National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) at Burma Camp, Accra.

His appointment is expected to strengthen the operations and security of Ghana’s ports at a time of increasing global trade and maritime challenges.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President, confirmed the appointment in a statement, emphasizing the Brigadier-General’s leadership capabilities.

“The President has full confidence in Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono’s ability to lead GPHA effectively. His extensive experience in security, law, and strategic management will be invaluable in ensuring the efficiency and safety of our ports,” Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said.

Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution from the George Washington School of Law, a Master in Management Studies from Osmania University in India, and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from the University of Ghana. He was called to the Ghana Bar in 2015.

His military training includes programs from the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the United States Army Command and Staff College, and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre. He has also held key leadership roles, including Chief Coordinator at NCDS, Assistant Commandant at the Training and Doctrine Command, and Deputy Director-General of Training at the Ghana Armed Forces Headquarters.

A seasoned expert in peacekeeping, counterterrorism, and strategic defense management, Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono has served in high-level positions, including as Deputy Force Provost Marshall and Officer in Charge of Special Investigations at UNIFIL HQ.
