Ghana has made progress despite the global crisis-Majority Leader

The Majority Leader in Parliament, Mr Alexander Afenyo Markin, says Ghana has made significant progress in all sectors of governance despite the global economic challenges.

He said the party through responsible governance structures had walked through the global tumultuous economic crisis to a desirable stand.

“We have steered Ghana well and those calling us liars must rather come for debate,” he said.

The majority leader was speaking at the National Manifesto launch in Takoradi, the Western Regional capital, on Sunday to profess “Bold Solutions” for Ghana’s onward advance.

He described the Manifesto launch as watershed event.

It would present Ghanaians with the planned programmes of the flagbearer of the Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and his running-mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

“These two candidates represent the future of Ghana” he said and urged the party faithful to put all acrimony and internal disputes aside to advance the fortunes of the Party in the December polls.

The majority leader said the NPP needed more seats in Parliament to ensure that government businesses moved in tandem with the planned development aspirations.

“And to you party members; let’s finish hard..knowing that there is a price awaiting us..”

Mr Justin Kodua, the NPP General Secretary, said exceptional leaders accepted challenges and worked towards solutions.

“We are setting the pace for being the first to launch our manifesto and I trust Bawumia and Prempeh will be a great president and vice for the country”.

Mr. Steve Ntim, the Chairman of the party, said the Manifesto was the dream and aspirations of all Ghanaians.

“This is a social contract and we promise to embark on bold solutions.”

He said the country was on the right path with many institutional reforms, adding: “Ghana has risen from the brink of despair in this eight years”.

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, in a  telecast message, entreated the nation to give Bawumia the chance.

“I see him as a man of destiny,” he said.
