Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Majority Whip, Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has prayed for the peaceful repose of those who died in the accident that occurred at Nsawam and wished the injured speedy recovery.
The distraught MP visited the accident scene and posted on his social media account.
He wrote, “I was at the scene of a fatal road accident at “Nsawam Mobil”, which claimed 5 lives & left 12 people with serious injuries. I pray for the peaceful repose of the deceased & speedy recovery of the injured. Emergency services & police are also at the scene managing the situation.
Four female adults were killed in the accident which occurred at Aburi junction on the Accra-Nsawam highway with at least nine people sustaining various degrees of injuries in.
The accident involved a cargo truck and eight other vehicles including a taxi, according to police.
Municipal Commander with the Nsawam Police, Superintendent Miriam Osei Adu, said the truck, which was moving towards Accra from Nsawam failed its brake and ran into at least eight other vehicles.
“The car had brake failure so they saw the car coming toward the taxi station where it crushed about eight card where four females were confirmed dead.”
“All the emergency services were deployed to the scene and we are about clearing the road to open for traffic,” the police chief said as she confirms the truck driver’s mate is in custody assisting police investigations.
