Manhyia South NPP PC to petition Attorney-General over ‘illegal voter transfers’

The NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Manhyia South has urged prosecution of Electoral Commission officials involved in illegal voter transfers if found guilty.

Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah hinted he will petition the Attorney-General over what he describes as illegal voter transfers in the Manhyia South Constituency.

“I am currently putting together a petition to the Attorney-General’s Office to prosecute all those involved, including the main person behind these transfers,” he declared.

He made the call in an interview in Kumasi on Tuesday, September 24.

This action follows Baffour Awuah’s petition to the Electoral Commission (EC) regarding the anomaly.

A Kumasi Magistrate Court on Tuesday (24 September) ordered the reversal of some of these illegal voter transfers.

According to the NPP parliamentary candidate, the objection is based on the fact that over 1,000 voters transferred do not live in Manhyia South.

He asserts that the transfer of votes is deliberately orchestrated to increase the votes of the NDC’s candidate in Manhyia South ahead of the December 7 polls.

”Because this is an organised transfer to assist the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to increase their votes in the upcoming elections in Manhyia South.”

” You know, we need to deter people from committing such offences in our society so that we can have a very high degree of integrity when it comes to the electoral process,” he added.
