The police have denied reports that the Tufuhen of Ekumfi Akwakrom, Christopher Ekow Clarke, popularly known as Nana Clark, has died.
Earlier reports on Saturday, September 24 suggested that Nana Clarke had drunk poison to kill himself for the embarassment the crime had caused him and the people of Ekumfi Akwakrom.
The report circulating in the media that the chief arrested in connection with the murder of a prospective student-nurse at Mankessim has died is false,” the police said.
The chief and accomplice Michael Darko, a self-styled pastor, had buried Georgina Asor Botchwey, a nursing student reported missing for weeks, after kidnapping her.
The two accused were on Thursday, September 22 arraigned before a Cape Coast District Court and remanded to reappear on Tuesday, October 4.
“We therefore urge the Public to treat the report with the contempt that it deserves.”
