McDan Aviation denies $3m debt claim, rejects GACL’s terminal ban

McDan Aviation has expressed disappointment with the Ghana Airport Company Limited’s (GACL) decision to deny the company access to its terminal, describing the action as unwarranted and based on misinformation.

In a statement, the CEO of McDan Group,  Kwaku Ampromfi, denied claims that it owed GACL $3 million for the use and operation of the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) terminal.

“It is pertinent to note that McDan Aviation does not owe GACL $3,000,000.00 on the terminal, as erroneously reported,” Mr. Ampromfi said.

He added that the company had already made significant payments and recently made an additional payment last week, with plans to continue payments from January 2025.

McDan Aviation also addressed an ongoing legal dispute over a parcel of land acquired from GACL on Spintex Road.

According to the company, a third-party litigation issue has led to court proceedings, during which payments have been placed on hold.

“GACL is aware of this situation, and we have communicated that payments will remain on hold until the court case is fully resolved,” Mr. Ampromfi explained.

The company criticized GACL for linking unrelated issues and taking what it deemed a harsh stance despite ongoing discussions to address concerns.

“Regrettably, GACL has chosen to take this line of action, particularly when the matters at hand are not interconnected,” the statement read.

Despite its disappointment, McDan Aviation emphasized its commitment to resolving the matter amicably and expressed its commitment to engaging in constructive dialogue to achieve a favourable resolution.

The dispute follows media publications that GACL has shut down McDan Aviation’s Private Jet Terminal over a $3 million debt.
