Founder and CEO of McDan Group of Companies, Daniel McKorley, hailed the newly established National Service Authority as a game-changer for its role in creating pathways for young Ghanaians to thrive in various sectors of the economy.
He underscored the Authority’s role in building job creation mindsets and supporting rural and urban development through innovative projects.
“The transformation of the National Service Scheme to an Authority represents a beacon of hope that will empower our young graduates to drive and accelerate the socio-economic growth and development of our country,” he said.
In an acceptance speech as Chairman at the official launch of the National Service Authority (NSA) on August 18, 2024, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, Mr. McKorley urged young Ghanaians to seize the opportunities presented by the National Service Authority and emphasized the value of hard work and purpose-driven action.
“While your youth is a valuable asset, you must recognize and seize the incredible opportunities that come your way, as this period of time is very limited. You cannot afford to be complacent,” he advised.
Mr. McKorley emphasized that the transformation of the National Service Scheme into the newly established National Service Authority, under the National Service Authority Act 2024 (Act 1119), marks a significant milestone in empowering the youth of Ghana.
He hailed the NSA’s new initiatives to enhance human capital development, foster entrepreneurial skills, and encourage participation in sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, and project management.
Mr. McKorley announced plans for a strategic partnership between the National Service Authority and the McDan Foundation, which will offer service personnel access to mentorship and coaching programs during their service period.
He invited service personnel to sign up for the initiative through the foundation’s website, expressing hope that other industry leaders would follow suit in supporting the country’s youth.
He charged the youth of Ghana, reminding them of their potential and the pivotal role they play in shaping the future of the country.
“You were born to be great, and the future of this country belongs to you,” he declared, calling on young people to serve with integrity and dedication.
The launch of the National Service Authority marked the beginning of a new phase in the nation’s efforts to empower its youth.
The NSA will implement initiatives designed to enhance the skills and employability of young graduates, further driving Ghana’s socio-economic development.
