Medeama Sporting Club has failed to record back-to-back victories in the ongoing CAF Champions League group stage after a one-all draw against Tanzanian side Young Africans in the third group game played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Friday, December 8.
The Mauve and Yellow started brightly in the first half with some good exchange of passes leaving Yanga SC a bit unsettled in the first few minutes.
Head Coach Augustine Evans Adotey started the game with his lead marksman Jonathan Sowah after missing out on the last game against CR Belouizdad in Kumasi.
Sowah put the Mauve & Yellows ahead in the 27th minute from the spot after a foul in the penalty box. Sowah converted confidently to give Medeama SC the lead in Kumasi, taking his tally to seven goals for Medeama SC this season in all competitions.
Medeama SC’s lead in the first half was short-lived after Ivorian midfielder Pacome Zouzoua drew level for the Tanzanians in the 36th minute.
The Mauve & Yellow failed to break down the Tanzanians in the second half, with the game ending in a stalemate.
The result means Medeama Sporting Club has four points and sits second in the standings behind Al-Ahly who has got five points after CR Beloiuzdad held the Egyptians to a goalless draw at the Al-Salaam Stadium.
The Ghanaian Champions now head to Tanzania for the fourth game of the CAF Champions League against Young Africans on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.
