The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, Mike Oquaye Jnr, has secured a decisive victory with 569 votes in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary for the Dome Kwabenya constituency.
Incumbent MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo polled 102 votes while Sheila Oppong received 113 votes.
The results, announced after the polls closed, revealed a clear mandate for Mike Oquaye Jnr as the preferred candidate to represent the NPP in the Dome Kwabenya constituency.
The victory signifies strong support from party members in the constituency.
Adwoa Safo has been an enigma for the constituency since she abandoned her parliamentary duties and took residence in the United States.
She later claimed she was tending to a sick child but obviously, the delegates have not forgiven her for the troubles she gave the party despite the many market tours she conducted to reconcile with party people.
Meanwhile, Oquaye Jnr who has been eyeing the constituency seat for a long time finally gets his dream to contest on the ticket of the NPP.
His victory in the primary positions him as a formidable candidate for the Dome Kwabenya constituency 2024 parliamentary election.
