Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey is still yet to recover from a thigh injury and feature in The Gunners upcoming English Premier League tie.
He said this in the pre game conference with Arsenal slated to play against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, January 30 at 19:30 GMT.
Partey has been dealing with the thigh injury since October, 2023 in the lead up to a UEFA Champions League group tie against Sevilla in Spain.
Despite photos of Partey training with the Arsenal squad emerging in recent weeks, Mikel Arteta says the former Atletico Madrid player is still not ready to play.
“Thomas is not in the squad, no. It’s what it is. You want everybody available and he’s a top player for us, really important player for us, but at the moment he’s not fit yet.”
Partey’s latest injury forced him to miss Ghana’s 2023 AFCON campaign in Cote D’Ivoire that had the Black Stars crash out of the tournament at the group stage without a win in three group games.
Arsenal take on league title contender Liverpool on Sunday, February 4 at the Emirates Stadium after taking on Nottingham Forest.
