The police in the wee hours of Friday, September 9 conducted anti-galamsey operations in the Western Region, 3news.com has gathered.
The operations led to the arrest of three Chinese and six Ghanaians.
Three excavators and three pump action guns were also retrieved.
The operations come in the wake of controversy surrounding some two excavators missing in Ellembelle.
Accusations were traded between the District Police Commander and the District Chief Executive (DCE).
A scuffle ensued between the two on Wednesday when one of the excavators was found and being transported to the Western Regional Police Headquarters.
This led to the arrest of the DCE, Kwasi Bonzo, who is currently standing trial.
Five Chinese were arrested in a quick intelligence-led operation on Thursday dawn.
The latest adds to the resolve by the police to stop illegal small-scale mining in Ghana.
