My absence from parliament due to knee surgery – Quartey

Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central and Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quarte has told the Privileges Committee of Parliament that his absence from Parliament beyond the15 days permitted was to enable him to undergo knee surgery.

The Minister on Wednesday, 6 July 2022, appeared before the Privileges Committee of parliament, to respond to the queries on his absence from Parliament without permission for 15 sitting days in the First Meeting of the Second Session of the 8th Parliament.

Two other Members of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong and Sara Adwoa Safo were also referred to the Committee for similar reasons.

Mr Agyapong has already appeared before the Committee and explained his absence was due to ill health.

However, Sara Adwoa Safo, who was scheduled to appear before the Committee via zoom because she is out of the country failed to appear.

Various attempts to get her to appear before the Committee have proven futile.

It is not clear why she did not show up.
