MY PLACE OF REFUGE

Scripture Reading: Proverbs 14

In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, And His children will have a place of refuge. Proverbs 14:26

God is a Refuge for the poor, a Shelter from the storm, a Father to the orphan, a Healer of the broken, a Fountain for the thirsty, and a Lover of the lonely. Simple words like these do more than inspire our hearts; they help paint an accurate picture of God.

A lot of people don’t know or have never been introduced to the God that the Bible talks about. From infancy, they were exposed to the God of their church and not the God of the Bible. For such people although they have a religious attachment to God, they have a knowledge of Him that keeps them away from enjoying all the blessings available to them.

Once a person gets an accurate and full picture of who God is, they will yield their lives to Him. The God of the Bible is so good that when we encounter Him, we desire more of Him.

One of the snapshots of God that should mean a lot to us is that the God we worship and serve is a Healer of the broken. Brokenness is something that every single one of us has experienced in life. God is the Healer of broken hearts, lives, emotions, and people.

When the world crushes us with deadly blows, we can come to the Lord to bind us up and restore us in strength. God takes that which has been torn and broken, and nurses it back to newness of life. He takes the disfigured and turns it into a work of beauty and grace. That is the work of the God of the Bible – the true God of the universe. Today, He can put your life together again.

*Prayer:* _Heavenly Father, my confidence is in you. In you, I have a place of refuge from all the storms of life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
