I was desperate to have a second child – Mzbel

Ghanaian singer and new mother, Nana Ekua Amoah, widely known as Mzbel, has recently opened up about her desperate desire to have a second child due to the online narrative that she had adopted her first son..

At 43 years old, Mzbel defied societal expectations and embraced her personal choice, by giving birth to a daughter, Ohemaa and celebrating her child in a traditional naming ceremony.

In an interview on Unites Showbiz, the ’16’ years singer shared the emotional reasons behind her decision and the challenges she faced along the way.

“I was excited hence my comment me dier nie, It brought back some painful memories I have experienced taking care of other children,” she told the show host why she had used the term.

According to Mzbel, her desire for another child was fueled by painful experiences and hurtful comments she had encountered while caring for other children.

“People throw hash comments like Adepa isn’t my son that I adopted him. Even my son tells me at school people say he is adopted. Oftentimes I have a lot of children who live with me that I take care of, so the media created that adoption narrative printing it in the minds of people who now see my son as an adopted child too,” she recounted.

Motivated by these experiences, Mzbel said she considered adoption as an alternative but ultimately decided to have a biological child.

“All these comments and experiences pushed me to have my own. I spoke to Rachel Appoh to help me out with legal adoption but I later decided to have my own was a better decision. I was tired of all those comments and unfairness,” she added.

I still consider Nana Tornado as my friend, people misunderstood my comments- Mzbel

This is the hiplife singer’s second child, as she already has a 10-year-old son named Nana Kwame Adepa from a previous relationship.

Rumours have been circulating that Mzbel secretly tied the knot with an anonymous man a few months ago, but she has kept the details of her partner private, leading to increased speculation and curiosity surrounding her personal life.

Throughout her career, Mzbel has been linked to prominent figures such as UT bank boss Kofi Amoabeng and former President H.E John Dramani Mahama.

However, her current focus is on raising her children and pursuing her musical and entrepreneurial endeavours.
