Naa Torshie rallies support for Bawumia: He’s clean and ready to lead

The administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Irene Naa Torshie Addo, has rallied support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during a tour of constituencies in the Greater Accra Region.

Addressing supporters at the Korle Klottey constituency, she emphasized Bawumia’s integrity, contrasting him with other political candidates, and urged voters to back the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate in the upcoming elections.

“We are bringing to you Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, someone that the Lord has washed clean. This is a person who has no scandal attached to him.”

“He has never been implicated in any corruption, nor has he taken cars from people,” she stated, assuring voters of Bawumia’s clean record and readiness to lead the country.

Comparing the presidential race between former President John Dramani Mahama and Dr. Bawumia, Naa Torshie noted, “They are both from the north and both have been Vice Presidents before. One has finished his duty as president but is coming back, asking voters for an extra term. But with the current state of the economy, where the dollar is soaring, we cannot afford to give extra terms.”

She encouraged voters to look for the number one spot on the ballot paper, as Dr. Bawumia secured that position during the party’s balloting.

“When you go to vote, don’t put your face down because if you do, you’ll miss your step. Look straight at the ballot, find number one, and vote wisely,” she advised.

Naa Torshie took a swipe at past controversies surrounding government projects, stating, “Under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, we haven’t lost any guinea fowls to mysterious flights. He remains committed to transparency and accountability.”

The tour is part of Naa Torshie’s effort to secure votes for Dr. Bawumia, who is vying to become the first Muslim to be elected as President of Ghana.

Naa Torshie Addo also assured widows and orphans of support under the leadership of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

She conveyed Dr. Bawumia’s promise to act as a ‘husband’ and a ‘child’ for widows and a ‘brother’ for orphans, vowing to take care of their needs when he becomes president.

She said, “Dr. Bawumia says he will be your husband, and for those without children, he will be your child, and for those without brothers, he will be your brother. This is a covenant between him and you.”

She added that widows would not cry for lack of support because ‘your husband Bawumia has married all of you.’

Touching on religious tolerance, Naa Torshie reminded Ghanaians that the nation’s Constitution is for all citizens, not just Christians.

She stated that every person born in Ghana is a Ghanaian and fit to be president adding, “If you are a Christian and say someone is a Muslim, so they can’t be president, and then you are wrong.”

The DACF Administrator urged voters to focus on electing a leader with the wisdom and courage to advance Ghana, citing the Free Senior High School (SHS) program as an example of bold leadership.

“The courage to implement Free SHS came from only one person, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. That kind of courage is rare, and I want to see another man who can do it,” she said.

She advised Ghanaians to think beyond their immediate needs, explaining that decisions made today would impact future generations.

“This election, don’t say you are NDC or NPP, but think ‘Ghana first.’ A friend who helps you today may not be able to do the same tomorrow, but if the person helps Ghana, both you and your children will benefit for many years,” she urged.

Naa Torshie also encouraged citizens to reject religious intolerance and embrace all leaders, regardless of faith.

Using the example of a medical emergency, she pointed out that no one asks for blood from a specific religion when in need.

“When you visit the hospital and need blood, the blood available is what will be given to you, not blood from your brother or sister,” she said, stressing that divisions based on religion should not influence the choice of president.
