NABCO trainees plead with Peace Council to intervene in unpaid allowances crisis

The Coalition of NABCO Trainees has made an urgent appeal to the National Peace Council, seeking immediate intervention in the ongoing issue of arrears that has plagued trainees since 2021.

Representing thousands of frustrated and disheartened individuals, the coalition voiced deep concerns over the prolonged delays and issued a strong warning.

They announced plans for a major demonstration at Jubilee House a week before the upcoming elections if their grievances remain unresolved.

In their petition to the Peace Council, the NABCO trainees outlined the severe impact of the unpaid allowances on their livelihoods, stressing the broader implications for national security and stability.

Despite multiple appeals to the Office of the President and relevant ministries, the issue remains unresolved, prompting trainees to escalate their actions.

The group emphasized the vital role of the National Peace Council in fostering a peaceful atmosphere ahead of the elections and urged the council to engage with the President to expedite the settlement of the arrears.

They stressed that all other avenues have been exhausted, and their patience is running thin, making swift government intervention essential to prevent potential unrest.

Key representatives of the coalition, including David Peterson, Nana Tachie Eric, Deborah Enam Sogbey, and Nana Berimah Asamoah, signed the petition. They remain hopeful that the Peace Council’s involvement will help preserve national security and ensure a peaceful election period.
