Fetish priestess turned evangelist, Patricia Asiedu, popularly called Nana Agradaa or Evangelist Mama Pat has been fingered in a massive money-doubling scam to which many people have fallen victim.
The self-styled evangelist who was famous for her money-doubling acts dubbed ‘Sika Gari’ during her fetish days apparently did not leave this scheme behind when she decided to switch the fetish batakari for the cassock.
Nana Agradaa allegedly revived the scheme in her church and successfully swindled over 5,000 people who thronged to her church recently to have their monies doubled after her claims on TV.
She is alleged to have promised to give away GH¢300,000 to her congregation with a guarantee of doubling whatever money any individual will offer her.
Information indicates that the victims some of who came from far as Tamale, Kumasi, Winneba, Mankessim, Kpone and even neighbouring Togo had the shock of their lives after Nana Agradaa milked every pesewa from their pockets and then absconded.
An aggrieved client whose hope for financial salvation was dashed lamented how Nana Agradaa took all the money they carried on them and then gave those who came from very far GH¢10 to pay for transport back home.
He disclosed that many people lost vast sums of money to the money-doubling scam and indicated he personally knows people who lost over GH¢2,000.
Nana Agradaa aka Evangelist Mama Pat claimed to have given her life to Christ and became born-again in April 2021.
She subsequently founded the Heaven Way Church at Weija, which attracted many members.
In a related development, the Ghana Police Service has commenced an investigation into the alleged money-doubling scam.
A statement by the police urged anyone with information that can assist the investigation to report to the Accra Regional Police Command at Accra Central close to the COCOBOD building.
“While the investigation continues, we urge everyone, especially those who might have been affected to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands,”
