The Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, has strongly denied the allegations made by “The Herald Newspaper” that he has been involved in negotiations over the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR)-Torentco deal and is attempting to hand over TOR to another company for free.
Bediatuo’s lawyers have issued a stern rejoinder, stating that their client is not involved in any dealings with regard to the TOR State Facility and that Torentco is not his “baby”.
The lawyers have instructed the managing editor of “The Herald Newspaper” to stop publishing false information about their client and to adhere to the ethical and professional standards of journalism when verifying information prior to publication.
Nana Bediatuo Asante’s lawyers (Marfo and Associates), under the hand of Gary Nimako Marfo, issued the rejoinder, dated 28 November 2023
Bediatuo’s lawyers in the rejoinder said, “Our client does not have any dealings with the subject matter referred to supra, and the same cannot be said to be the baby of our client. Moreover, our client has not haggled with anyone for the said TOR Facility.”
The lawyers, acting on the instruction of Nana Bediatuo Asante, have notified the managing editor of Herald Newspaper to desist from orchestrating false publications about their client.
“We are instructed to notify you to stop the deliberate orchestration of false publication about our client and to take steps to verify any information prior to publication in accordance with the ethics of the journalism profession and the standards of the Ghana Journalist Association,” the rejoinder read.
