Member of Parliament for Akwapim South, Osei Bonsu Amoah, has stated that New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate, Mathew Opoku Prempeh, is miles ahead of his counterpart from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman in terms of politics
According to OB Amoah, Napo, as Prempeh is affectionately known, has extensive political experience, having been involved in student politics long before joining Ghana’s national politics.
In comparison to the NDC’s running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman, Akwampim South Member of Parliament pointed out Napo’s extensive political experience.
“In politics, she comes nowhere near Napo in experience. When Napo started politics, Pro Naana Jane had not even dreamt of debating politics, nevertheless taking to politics,” he stressed.
Amoah acknowledged Prof. Opoku-Agyeman’s accomplishments in academia but maintained that in the political arena, Napo is more seasoned.
“If we use that as a measure, then she is far behind Napo in terms of experience in politics,” he asserted.
Expressing his confidence in Napo’s capabilities, OB Amoah stressed his contributions as Energy Minister and his role in implementing the free SHS policy. ”
According to him, if the NPP running mate were not that courageous, he would not have been able to go through his education and be appointed as Energy Minister by President Akufo-Addo and introduce the reforms in the education sector during the implementation of the free SHS policy.
OB expressed confidence in the NPP’s prospects for the upcoming elections.
He said, “If Ghana is to be entrusted into the hands of any of these two running mates, Napo will do marvellously because he is a true politician and will do far better than Prof. Naana Jane, and that is a fact and there is no argument,” he declared.
