Election 2024: Okaikwei North NCCE Promote Peace

The Okaikwei North Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organized a Parliamentary Candidate’s   Dialogue for Parliamentary Candidates in the Okaikwei Central Constituency in the Greater Accra region.

The event was a platform for the candidates to outline their vision to bring development to the people in the lead up to the December 7, 2024 general elections.

Speaking at the programme, Mrs. Joanna Ampomaa Nkansah, the Deputy Director at the Regional NCCE Office, urged political actors to safeguard Ghana’s peace before, during and after the elections.

She said “as you go home, spread the message of peace and none-violence; we want to hear that at the end of the elections, we have had peace throughout the exercise. We entreat everyone here to do the needful.”

She continued: “We are asking all members in this Constituency to live in peace with one another, we are one people, nothing should divide us; without unity, there is no development”.

Madam Vivienne Achel, the Okaikwei North Municipal Director of the Commission in a message said the NCCE has played a pivotal role in sustaining Ghana’s democratic credentials through series of flagship propgrammes over the years.

She assured that the 2024 elections will be successful and peaceful adding “it is therefore our collective responsibility as individuals and political parties to help promote the needed peace of the country.”

“I entreat political parties to desist from engaging in irresponsible activities that would create the platform for conflict such as ballot snatching, multiple voting and other electoral malpractices. I also use this opportunity to encourage all illegible voters to turnout in their high numbers to vote on 7the December 2024 peacefully.”

In an interaction with journalists, Honourable Baba Sadiq the National Democratic Congress (NDC) aspiring Parliamentary Candidate for Okaikwei Central lauded the NCCE for the programme.

He said when given the nod, he would construct a Community Senior High School in the Okaikwei Central with a special focus on STEM education.

Honourable Sadiq explained that he would give scholarship for students interested in studying the Sciences.

He stated that the next NDC government would embark on Market Re-enhancement Programme which would see the facelift of major markets in the Municipality including the Abeka and the New Fadama Markets stressing that the current condition of both markets do not befit the status of a modem market.

On health, the Okaikwei Central NDC aspiring Parliamentary Candidate said the abounded Apenkwa CHIPS compound constructed under the erstwhile NDC administration would be completed as the Okakiwei Central Health Centre.

Honourable Sadiq further indicated that under President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership all nuisance taxes would be scraped to reduce the economic burden of people in the country.

Earlier, the Okaikwei Central NDC aspiring Parliamentary Candidate rolled out his plans on issues such as employment, economy, education, health, roads and infrastructure and agriculture which were the key thematic areas for the dialogue.

He pledged his commitment to peace in the impending general elections in the Constituency.
