National House of Chiefs condemns LGBTQ+ as evil and abominable, vows to uphold Ghanaian traditions

The National House of Chiefs has expressed strong opposition to the activities of the LGBTQ+ community, describing them as evil and abominable.

Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, the President of the National House of Chiefs, emphasized the commitment of traditional rulers to uphold Ghana’s traditions and culture by continuing to reject such evil acts.

During a meeting in Kumasi, President Gyebi called upon Ghanaians to support the chiefs in safeguarding the values and traditions of the country.

He stated that the chiefs, as custodians of culture and land, firmly believe that the creator God or Allah designed only male and female genders to inhabit the earth.

Therefore, any other gender identity or same-sex unions are considered abominations and against Ghanaian cultural values.

Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II firmly declared that the chiefs and their subjects will not accept any form of LGBTQ+ behavior, such as same-sex marriage, in Ghana. He emphasized that such acts are deemed immoral and go against the fundamental principles cherished by Ghanaian society.

Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister, Stephen Asamoah-Boateng says LGBTQ is alien to the country’s values and will not be accepted.

“LGBTQ+ is alien to us, I oppose it myself. I want to assure Nananom that we will protect our tradition and make sure we will not go by any tradition alien to us,” he said.
