National Security Ministry refutes bribery allegations: Calls for evidence from Barker-Vormawor

The Ministry of National Security has vehemently denied allegations of an attempted $1,000,000 bribe offered to Mr. Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the Convenor of the Fix the Country Movement, by the Minister for National Security.

The claims, the Ministry said, are false, unfounded, and a calculated attempt to hoodwink Ghanaians.”

The denial followed allegations by Mr. Barker-Vormawor in a viral post that he had been offered a substantial sum of money to halt his activism efforts.

Ministry of National Security, however, stressed that during 2021 meetings with the Fix the Country Movement, no monetary offer or appointment was made to dissuade the group from their activism.

A statement released by the Ministry stated, “While it is acknowledged that the Ministers for National Security, and Finance, and other relevant stakeholders, in 2021, engaged the convenors of the Fix the Country Movement to listen to their concerns, it must be stated emphatically that no offer of money or appointment was made to persuade the group to end its ‘activism’.”

The Ministry challenged Mr. Barker-Vormawor to provide evidence of the alleged inducement, specifically a recording. They assert that the allegations should not be taken seriously until such evidence is presented.

The Ministry urged the general public to disregard these allegations and treat them with the utmost contempt as they are a deliberate attempt to mislead Ghanaians.
