The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been desperately working around the clock to unseat performing Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe Abronye.
Information available to this paper indicates that the NDC is allegedly financing and promoting a contender of the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, Kwame Baffoe Abronye, ahead of the Bono Regional executive elections.
According to our sources, certain big wings within the NDC are financially supporting Abronye’s contender financially in an attempt to unseat Abronye.
“This initiative will help them [NDC] take control over the Bono Region and will further silence Abronye not to talk about former president John Mahama,” the source added.
Ironically, the Bono Regional Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, Efo Worlanyo Tsekpo, has stated that NPP delegates should not vote for Kwame Baffoe Abronye come Sunday regional executive elections of the NPP.
He said Abronye is causing too much problem in the region and cannot possibly help the NPP party win the 2024 elections, stressing that Abronye’s contender, is more polite and carries himself well which is a virtue that the incumbent Regional NPP Chairman lacks.
The NDC Youth Organiser said that he believes in peace and harmony in every political divide and certainly, Konlaabig Rasheed is a great individual for the job by all standards.
“Abronye must go to make way for affable Rasheed to come and correct all the wrongs. Truth is, we in the NDC support Abronye’s contender’s candidature and we entreat the NPP delegates not to make a mistake of retaining arrogant Abronye. Rasheed’s ability to convict NDC members to the NPP is absolutely unmatched,” he noted in statement.
“That’s all about politics. It is not what Abronye is doing. The more reason, they should compare Abronye and his contender. Not because Abronye has sent me to court, that’s why I don’t like. It is because, in my perspective as a politician, Rasheed can hold the region better than Abronye. Rasheed is our next Bono Regional Chairman. I am Bono Regional Youth but I think we can work with him as party and there will be sanity in the region. Congratulations in advance, Hon Rasheed. In fact, Rashid must win! Myself and the entire team in Bono Region wish you well, Hon Rasheed,” he stated.
*Abronye’s good works*
The outspoken Bono regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe Abronye has been tough on the opposition NDC for considerable number of years.
The NDC is keen on unseating Abronye due to his good works and bravery.
According to reports, when the NDC led by Sammy Gyamfi started their propaganda prior to the 2020 elections on GHOne TV, Adom TV and UTV with their evening programmes, it was Chairman Kwame Baffoe Abronye who stood against them with his Nsempa Fie Show on Wontumi TV and Radio.
Mr Baffoe did the show without any sponsorship.
He was traveling from Bono region to Kumasi and paid people to go around the country taking pictures and videos of various projects done by President Nana Addo’s Government.
Indeed, when the NPP needed someone to expose the NDC with facts and figures, Abronye showed up.
Again, Abronye secured several recruitment slots for his constituency officers during his tenure as Regional Chairman.
