NDC names Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as Mahama’s running mate for 2024 Presidential Election

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially announced Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as the running mate of John Dramani Mahama for the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.

The announcement marks a pivotal moment for the party as it gears up for a highly anticipated electoral battle.

A statement by NDC General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, said the selection of Professor Opoku-Agyemang reflects the party’s commitment to promoting inclusivity, diversity, and the empowerment of women in leadership positions.

He underscored the significance of Professor Opoku-Agyemang’s nomination, signalling a new chapter for the party and the nation at large.

The NDC, he said, will rally behind its leaders, presenting a united front in the quest for electoral success.

“With her extensive qualifications and rich experience, she is poised to bring a profound depth of knowledge and expertise to the NDC’s presidential ticket,” he stated.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang, an academic and former Minister for Education, is celebrated for her unwavering dedication to education and her notable achievements in public service.

Her historic tenure as the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast has set her apart as a pioneering figure for women in leadership within Ghana.

The party’s flag bearer, John Mahama, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “I am proud to have Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as my running mate.”
