NDC refutes malicious allegation of involvement in Taadi ‘kidnapped pregnant’ woman saga

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described as ridiculous and a blatant lie government-backed accusations that former President John Dramani Mahama and National Chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo masterminded the alleged kidnapping of the supposed pregnant woman in Takoradi.

According to the NDC, the tone of the baseless accusation shows the maker had apparent support of the government to spew wicked, malicious and contemptuous accusations in order to reduce the heat on the government for its mishandling of national security challenges and loss of a firm grip on governance.

Head of Corporate Communications of Ghana Gas, Ernest Owusu Bempah, at a press conference accused the former President and the NDC National Chairman of being behind the alleged kidnapping.

Director of Communications of the party, Kakra Essamuah, in a swift rebuttal, stated that Mr. John Mahama and Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo have no hand whatsoever in the happenings in the Western Region nor are they linked any way to any of the characters in the alleged kidnapping saga.

“Leadership of the NDC has far more noble objectives to engage its attention. It is a sad reflection of the quality of our democracy that government agents would find time to vilify innocent persons just to make this hopeless administration look good in the eyes of the public,” the statement said.

The party urged the public to treat the accusations with utter contempt as there is no merit in it and called on its teeming members, supporters and sympathizers to constantly hold the Akufo in accordance with the dictates of the Constitution.

“Remind the government to honour its sacred duty of securing the lives and property of Ghanaians.”

“This is the core mandate of all responsible governments and not the peddling of useless allegations that benefit no one nor advance the national interest,” he said.
