NDC regional communicators laud Mahama’s statesmanship, back Sammy Gyamfi

The sixteen Regional Communications Officers of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have praised former President John Dramani Mahama for his “inspiring leadership” and “balanced statesmanship” in addressing the recent controversy surrounding the party’s National Communications Officer, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi.

In a press statement released on Thursday and signed by Richard Kirk-Mensah, Dean of Regional Communications Officers (RCOs) and their deputies, the group hailed President Mahama for his thoughtful intervention in the matter, which they say highlighted core values of accountability, forgiveness, and humility.

“President Mahama’s thoughtful and balanced response demonstrates his maturity, magnanimity, and vision. By acknowledging the merit of the situation and Mr. Gyamfi’s sincere public apology, he has underscored the importance of accountability, forgiveness, and humility in public life,” the statement read

The group also rallied behind Sammy Gyamfi, describing his actions as a “gesture of misguided generosity rather than misconduct,” and praised his track record, especially in his leadership at the Ghana Gold Board.

“We believe Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi acted in good faith. His competence, vision, and drive are unmistakable,” the statement noted

The RCOs also praised Gyamfi’s composure in the face of public scrutiny and lauded the withdrawal of the complaint lodged against him at the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) as proof of his character.

“We salute Mr. Gyamfi for his calm, maturity, and dignity in handling the matter. The withdrawal of the complaint filed against him at CHRAJ is a testament to his strength of character,” they said.

Reaffirming their loyalty, the group declared their unwavering support for Sammy Gyamfi and expressed confidence in his continued contributions to the party and national development.

“The sixteen Regional Communications Officers and our able deputies stand firmly in solidarity with Sammy Gyamfi, Esq. We are confident that his commitment to Ghana’s progress and the NDC will continue to shine through his actions,” the statement stressed.
