NDC Youth Organizers deny rejecting Mahama campaign vehicles in 2020

Regional Youth Organizers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have described as an abuse of their intelligence claim they were impressed upon to reject vehicles donated by the party’s flagbearer in the run up to the 2020 general elections.

They described as unfortunate, what they claim are attempts to jump on a decision the Caucus took to unjustifiably berate the National Youth Organizer, Lawyer George Opare Addo aka Pablo.

According to them, all 16 Regional Youth Organizers are independent minded individuals with different orientation when it comes to taking decision.

A statement issued by the Regional Organisers on Friday noted that while persons or groups have the right to criticise the National Officer, this must be done constructively and grounded on facts.

They insisted the claim Pablo instigated the Caucus to reject the vehicles that Former President Mahama gave to the Youth Wing is untrue and palpably false.

“Fact is, the National Youth Organizer, in the run-up to the Campaign, informed the Caucus of the flag bearer’s decision to give out some vehicles to the Regional Youth Wings.”

“He gave directive to the Caucus on the processes to follow to take delivery of the vehicles.

This was after he had taken delivery of two of same vehicles, which were at the time packed at his personal office.”

“It is worthy to mentioned that before this directive, Pablo had personally donated five pick ups to some of the Regional Youth Wings and was angling to get the remaining Regional Youth wings vehicles,” the statement said.

According to the Caucus, since most do not live in Accra, pictures of the vehicles were taken by colleagues and posted on their platform.

It said the members, however, raised concern about the make of the vehicle and their fuel comsumption rate.

“A decision was taken that a letter be written to the National Chairman to convene a meeting with the flag bearer, and together with Pablo to plead for the vehicles to be changed.”

“It is again important to emphasize that neither Pablo nor his deputies are on our Caucus platform.

This means that the decision was taken without his prior knowledge and consent,” they said.

The National Youth Organizer, they said, only got to know of the decision when the letter addressed to the National Chairman was discussed.

“He was not pleased with our decision to write to the National Chairman without first taking up the issue with him for amicable resolution at the Youth Wing level.”

“Pablo, through the Regional Chairmen impressed on us to accept the vehicles, which we did,” they added. No decision, the Youth Organizers said, has ever been taken by the Caucus without subjecting it to thorough debate.

They stressed that never in their dealings have a decision ever been imposed on the Caucus and insisted in order to check decisions of the leadership of the Youth Wings without any interference, Pablo and his deputies are not on the Caucus’ platform.
