The Director-General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), Nana Attobrah Quaicoe, has vehemently denied allegations made by Mr. Martin Kpebu, a member of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee, suggesting that he engaged the committee over disputed state property.
In a press statement issued by Nana Quaicoe’s legal counsel, the allegations were described as ‘contrived, false, and without any basis.’
Mr. Kpebu, during a recent episode of TV3’s Key Points program, alleged that the NIB Director-General had agreed to relinquish a parcel of land belonging to the state.
According to Kpebu, this was part of an understanding to prevent the ORAL Committee from taking further action against the NIB boss.
These statements, which have since been republished by several media outlets, have sparked public interest and debate. However, Nana Quaicoe has categorically denied the claims.
Speaking on behalf of his client, Saviour Quarcoo Kudze stated: “Our client has neither contacted nor engaged any member of the ORAL committee, particularly Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, in relation to any government land. The allegations by Mr. Martin Kpebu are utterly false and defamatory.”
Nana Quaicoe, he said, is not in possession of any illegally acquired government land, as alleged in the media.
The legal counsel has demanded an immediate retraction of the claims from Mr. Kpebu.
“We urge the public to disregard these false statements calculated to injure our client’s reputation and call on the private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu, to retract the defamatory statements. Failing this, our client may resort to necessary legal action to vindicate his name and rights,” Mr. Kudze emphasized.
