The police have denied claims that no persons nor a vehicle has been shot at in the Assin North Constituency as the by-election comes to a close.
A warning shot was, however, alleged to have been fired by an individual, the police confirmed.
In an update on happenings in Assin North, the police also confirmed pockets of violence recorded during voting exercise on Tuesday, June 27.
“All the recorded incidents are being investigated and Police have also arrested some suspects who are in custody assisting our investigation,” the police said in the update on Tuesday.
They assured that more personnel have been deployed throughout the Constituency “to ensure security law and order for the remaining period of the election and beyond”.
“We would like to urge all stakeholders to redouble their commitment to work with the Police to ensure a peaceful election especially as the exercise draws to a close.”
Sorting of ballots prior to counting is currently underway.
