The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed sadness at the sudden demise of Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumawu Constituency Philip Basoah.
“The demise of Hon. Basoah, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, March 28, 2023, comes as a devastating blow to the grief-stricken NPP, following the passing of Hon. Dr Anthony Akoto Osei about a week ago.”
The party had instructed all flags at its national, regional and constituency offices to fly at half-mast following the death of former MP for Old Tafo Dr Anthony Akoto Osei on Monday, March 20.
That was for seven days.
The party is directing again its offices nationwide to fly flags at half-mast for the next seven days for the Kumawu MP.
It eulogised the late Philip Basoah, who had served for a long time as District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere East before becoming MP in 2013.
“Owing to his vast experience as a legislator, Hon, Basoah was appointed as the Chairman of the Employment, Social Welfare and State Enterprise Committee of Parliament.
“He also served as a member of the Lands and Forestry Committee as well as the Committee on Selection.”
The party added in a statement on Tuesday, March 28 that the late MP was “a gentle and astute politician whose contributions to the party, constituents and the development of Ghana through his work in Parliament cannot be overemphasized”.
“As a party, we take solace from his legacy of hard work and dedication to our country.”
It commiserated with the family, particularly his wife and children as well as the Parliament of Ghana.dvocacy (AFFA)
