NPP flags to fly at half-mast in honour of Ama Busia

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all party flags in its offices across the country to be flown at half-mast for the next seven days in honour of Madame Bame Ama Busia.

She passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the age of 89.

She was a founding member of the party and a member of the National Council of Elders

Madam Ama Busia was a sister to former Prime Minister Kofi Abrefa Busia, who led the Second Republic from 1969 to 1972.

She also served as the National First Vice Chairperson of the NPP and a member of the Council of State under President John Agyekum Kufuor.

A statement signed by NPP Chairman Stephen Ntim described her as a distinguished stateswoman and an embodiment of humility, hard work, and selfless service to the party and the nation.

The party expressed its condolences to the Busia family and the entire nation for the loss of this illustrious citizen.

The party also prayed for her soul to find comfort in God’s bosom and for the family and the party to find strength to cope with this great loss.
