The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed shock at the sorrowful passing of Hon. Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, the Deputy Minister for Finance and Member of Parliament for the Ejisu Constituency.
The tragic event occurred on March 7, 2024, plunging the party and its supporters into mourning.
General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodu Frimpong, in a statement expressed the party’s deep sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to Hon. Kumah’s family and constituents.
As a tribute to his memory, the NPP has directed that all party flags be flown at half-mast for the next seven days, a symbol of respect and mourning for a revered member of the party.
“The New Patriotic Party takes solace in his legacy of hard work and dedication to our dear country,” Frimpong stated, acknowledging the profound impact of Hon. Kumah’s service.
Hon. Kumah demonstrated leadership qualities from his early years, having served as School Prefect for the Opoku Ware School.
His political journey was marked by his vibrant activism, notably through his involvement with the Young Patriots, a youth group pivotal to the party’s activities between 2009 and 2016.
Hon. Kumah’s business acumen led to his appointment as the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurial and Innovation Programme (NEIP) under the first Akufo-Addo administration.
His stewardship at NEIP earned him recognition and subsequently his role as Deputy Minister for Finance in 2021.
As the MP for Ejisu, he was deeply committed to his constituents, a dedication that was recently honored with his acclamation as the Party’s 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency.
His work has left an indelible mark on both his constituency and the nation at large.
According to Justin Kodua, the NPP and the broader Ghanaian community will remember Hon. Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah as a leader whose passion and dedication have significantly contributed to the nation’s progress.
“His legacy of service and commitment to Ghana’s development will be cherished and remembered,” he added
