NPP Polls: Five incumbent NPP regional chairpersons retained; two lost [Day 1]

At least five incumbent regional chairpersons of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) retained their seats in the regional elections held in seven regions on Friday (27 May).

However, two were pushed out in the keenly contested polls, including the Bono East and Western North who failed in their bid to be retained.

The elections were held in Ahafo, Bono East, Northern, North East, Savannah, Upper East and Western North regions.

The elections were generally peaceful in the first seven regions which kicked off the three-day exercise.

Below is a list of the elected regional chairpersons:

Ahafo Chairman – Kwabena Owusu Sekyere

Savannah Chairman – Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana

Bono East Chairman – Ibrahim Baba Bukari

Upper east Chairman – Anthony Namoo

Noth East Chairman – Fuseini Nurudeen

Western North Chairman – Benjamin Armah

Northern Chairman – Mohammed B. Samba
