NPP Presidential Primaries: Dr Apraku successfully files nomination

Former Minister of Regional Cooperation and NEPAD Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku has become the fifth flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to file his nominations ahead of the presidential primaries.

Dr Apraku successfully filed his nominations at the party’s headquarters after an initial setback on Monday, June 19.

He had been rescheduled for another date after he failed to submit completed nomination forms for the NPP primaries.

But hours after the incident, the former Trade Minister returned with completed forms this time.

He told journalists after submitting his forms that there were statutes “that require us to send [the forms] including our documents, our vision and we did not know about it. We didn’t ignore but we just did not know”.

“So, we did not bring the document and they asked us to go and bring it. We brought it and everything is okay.

“We have submitted the document.”

The party has scheduled Saturday, June 24 to close nominations ahead of vetting and balloting for the Special Congress in August.

So far, five aspirants have submitted their forms.

They are Alan Kyerematen, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Boakye Agyarko and Dr Apraku.
