NPP primaries: Binduri aspiring candidate disqualified for forgery and false credentials

Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate (APC) for Binduri Constituency, Alex Amolbugri Avoka, has been disqualified from contesting the upcoming Parliamentary Primaries scheduled for January 27, 2024.

The disqualification notice, signed by the Regional Secretary Elvin Alta Awonchai, cited serious allegations against Avoka during the vetting process conducted by the National Parliamentary Vetting Committee (NPVC) on January 3, 2034.

According to the notice, Avoka forged signatures and thumbprints on his nomination forms, actions that constitute criminal offenses.

Additionally, he is alleged to have manipulated his date of birth to qualify for a 50% discount on filing fees granted to persons below 40 years aspiring to be parliamentary candidates.

The most egregious claim, however, is that Avoka claimed to have a Bachelor of Business Administration (Human Resources) from the Christian Service University College, Kumasi.

According to the statement, an investigation revealed the claim was false, as he had never attended the institution.

The statement assured Avoka he has the option to appeal against the NPVC’s recommendation to the Appeals Committee, as stipulated by the rules, regulations, and guidelines for the election.

Regional Secretary Elvin Alta Awonchai emphasized the importance of upholding integrity within the party, stating, “The decision to disqualify Mr. Avoka was not taken lightly, but it reflects our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of transparency and honesty in our electoral processes.”
