NPP running mate: Group urges Bawumia to choose Chief of Staff

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth Wing of Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency is calling on the Vice President and flagbearer of the party, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, to choose the Chief of Staff, Akosua Fremah Osei-Opare as his running mate for the December 2024 general elections.

According to the Wing, the Chief of Staff with her experience in politics, competence, courage, commitment and above all a unifier can bring the grassroots together.

The call was made at a press conference organised by the NPP Youth Wing of Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.

Speaking to the media, a member of the Ayawaso West Wuogon Youth Wing and Zone five (5) Coordinator for Greater Accra Association of Assembly Members Samuel Duah said, Akosua Fremah Osei-Opare has done a lot for the NPP government, as she has assisted President Akufo Addo to formulate and implement numerous policies to bring development to Ghana.

Samuel Duah added that with the Chief of Staff as a running mate to Dr. Bawumia, the party will break the 8 easily since massive votes will come from the Ashanti Region because of her and the Northern Region Sector will vote due to Dr. Bawumia.

According to the Youth Wing, Dr. Bawumia needs someone who is a unifier, courageous, grassroots person and loved by the base of the NPP.

In the forthcoming announcement of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s vice-presidential nominee for the 2024 general elections, anticipation has reached its zenith as the nation awaits the unveiling of the individual who will stand alongside Dr Bawumia in this pivotal role.

Dr Bawumia’s dilemma would be to adequately balance the complementary skills and experience, political compatibility, regional and demographic representation, campaigning and fundraising abilities, leadership qualities, electoral impacts, governance capabilities, and team compatibility among others, of the forerunners – Mr. Kwadwo Nsafoah Poku, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Hon. Irene Naa Torshie Addo, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh – each offering a distinct blend of expertise, experience, and vision.

The NPP members seek individuals who have distinguished themselves and could contribute significantly to Dr Bawumia’s electoral appeal.

Ghanaians are likely to prioritize a vice-presidential candidate committed to nation-building and strengthening the safety of citizens amid looming threats of terrorism and other regional insecurity concerns.
