NPP tasks NDC to report evidence of wrongdoing to security agencies

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has challenged the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to report evidence of intended wrongdoing they have gathered to the security agencies.

The party expressed shock that less than 24hours to the general elections, the opposition is still campaigning contrary to established convention, under the guise of a complaint of intended mischief.

A statement issued by General Secretary of the NPP on Sunday 6th December 2020, John Boadu, said the ruling party has no intention of subverting the sovereign will of the people.

He expressed confidence Ghanaians will renew the party and President Akufo-Addo’s mandate based on the government’s unassailable track record of achievements.

All processes, he said, that have been put in place to ensure credible and transparent elections in Ghana including transparent ballot boxes, bio-metric verification devices, and photo I.D cards were championed by the NPP with stiff opposition from the NDC.

“On the contrary, all acts of thuggery and political trickery that have surfaced in our democratic practice like ballot box snatching and stuffing were introduced by the NDC.”

“The NDC is making these allegations because it sees defeat staring it in the face. These allegations are being thrown in 24 hours to an election to mask the incompetent, lackluster and uninspiring campaign that they have run.”

“They know they will be rejected at the polls and are seeking to find excuses for their defeat,” he said.

Mr. John Boadu indicated that the international community has already heaped enormous praise on Ghana for an excellent preparatory process towards the election and stressed the NPP is determined to discharge its electoral commitment.
