NPP urges calm among supporters following Alan’s resignation

The national executive of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appealed for calm in swift response to the unexpected announcement of the resignation of former stalwart, Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen.

They urged party members to remain calm and await a forthcoming address regarding this development.

Mr. Kyerematen, a long-standing member of the NPP and a former presidential hopeful, revealed his decision to leave the party during a press conference held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel on Monday, September 25.

He also disclosed his intention to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

General Secretary of the NPP, Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, in a statement immediately on Monday, September 25, 2023, after the announcement, expressed the party leadership’s acknowledgement of Mr. Kyerematen’s decision, describing it as “unfortunate.”

He emphasized the need for party members to maintain their composure while awaiting an official response from the party on this matter.

The official party address is scheduled to take place at 14:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the NPP headquarters.
