Offinso North NPP boiling: Executives accuse PC of stoking division

The Offinso North constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have refuted allegations made in a recent press release by some youth within the constituency against the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Albert Sefa Boampong.

The executives emphasized that the accusations were false and should be disregarded.

“The purported press release by some youth of the constituency is palpable lies and must be treated with all the contempt it deserves,” the executives stated.

At a press conference addressed by the constituency’s communication officer, Agyemang Emmanuel on behalf of the executives, he not only denied the allegations but also took the opportunity to express their grievances against the current parliamentary candidate, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah.

They accused him of fostering division within the party and undermining the unity necessary for electoral success.

“We intended to use the party’s approved channels to communicate the various maltreatments and the gross disrespect meted out to us by our parliamentary candidate, Dr Fred Kyei Asamoah, for the past four years.”

“However, this sponsored press release has triggered our response,” Emmanuel stated.

The executives recounted several incidents that they believe underscored Dr Asamoah’s lack of readiness for leadership, including his alleged orchestration of a ‘skirt and blouse’ voting pattern in the 2020 elections to sabotage the former MP, Hon. Augustine Collins Ntim.

“Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah is not ready for power. His political activities before, during, and after the parliamentary elections depict this,” Emmanuel stated.

The executives detailed a series of actions they attribute to Dr. Asamoah, which they say have led to sharp divisions within the party. These include forming a parallel group of constituency executives, working with a ‘de facto DCE,’ and neglecting the current constituency executives.

“He goes about telling people that he doesn’t need Ntim and his supporters to win the elections. He has already won.”

“He has surrounded himself with macho men who go about threatening and beating party faithful who speak well about the member of parliament,” Emmanuel claimed.

The group also accused Dr. Asamoah of spreading misinformation about the achievements of the NPP in Offinso North, particularly regarding infrastructure projects credited to the government.

Despite these grievances, the constituency executives reaffirmed their commitment to securing a victory for the NPP in the upcoming elections, regardless of the challenges posed by their parliamentary candidate.

They called on the party’s national and regional executives and the party’s flagbearer to take note of the situation.

“Our parliamentary candidate, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, is not ready to maintain the Offinso North seat.”

“We, the constituency executives, will not sit down for him to hand over our enviable seat on a silver platter to the NDC. Even if he does not engage with us, we will do our best to propagate the good things the party has done through Hon. A. Ntim, our current MP, and our DCE, Hon. Albert Sefa Boampong, to the electorate to maintain the seat,” Emmanuel warned.

The constituency executives vowed to continue their efforts to keep the NPP strong in Offinso North despite the internal conflicts.
