Ofori-Atta jabs critics: Discuss how to rescue the economy; not my resignation

Embattled Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, has urged Ghanaians to discuss how to rescue the country from its current economic turmoil rather than demand his resignation.

Responding to his critics during an engagement with members of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) on Thursday, November 3, the Minister said he feels the pain and aches but is more concerned about how the country surmounts its challenges.

According to him, at this time when the country is facing severe economic hardships Ghanaians should discuss how the country’s resources can be utilized effectively to ensure growth and development instead of the heightened calls for his resignation.

He, however, expressed confidence in the country and indicated it is purposed for greatness

The Minister Finance Minister has been under intense pressure to step down over what is believed to be gross mismanagement of the Ghanaian economy.

Members of his own party, including some Majority MPs, have thrown their weight behind the calls and have threatened to boycott government business if he is not sacked.
