Ofori-Atta not fit for purpose, must resign – Agboadza fires

Member of Parliament for Adaklu, Kwame Agbodza, has urged the Minister of Finance to go resign his position immediately he leaves Parliament because he is not fit for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.

The Minister, he said, has completely lost control of the economy and cannot be trusted to tell the truth about anything any longer.

“This should be the last time he comes to Parliament. He should resign tomorrow morning but guess what President Akufo-Addo does not have the balls to sack him because if he does his government will collapse.”

Mr. Agbodza made the call in an interview after the Minister had presented the 2022 budget review statement to Parliament on Monday, July 25, 2022.

According to him, it was shameful to even listen to the Minister when in 2020 and 2021 he claimed a financing agreement for construction of the 31.7 Accra-Tema Motorway under a PPP arrangement had been signed.

“Today this Finance Minister is saying on page 53 paragraph 56 they are now going through procurement. You are now telling us in 2022 you are going through procurement when in 2021 you said you have already done that.”

“This is how NPP manages this country; deception, disgraceful comments.”

Mr. Agbodza expressed displeasure that the Minister failed to speak about the people who lost their jobs as a result of cancellation of the road tolls and added, “This government can never be trusted. It’s very disgraceful for him not to apologize to the people of this country that when he spoke in 2021, and then in the 2022 budget, he actually lied about the status of the Tema-Motorway.”

According to him, the Minister told a little bit of truth even though he didn’t pray and quote the Bible because on previous occasions when he read the Bible he stated so many untruths and noted today, unfortunately, he didn’t pray but at least a little bit of truth came.

He averred that though President will not sack the Finance Minister, the people of Ghana will show the government the door in 2024.
