One dead, two injured as gunshots disrupt voting at Nyankpala

A violent confrontation between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at a polling station in Nyankpala, Northern Region, has left one person dead and two others injured.

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of four suspects linked to the shooting incident, which disrupted the voting process and caused panic among voters and election officials.

The suspects, identified as Majid Issah, Fodi Issiage Kamara, Yakubu Simalia, and Alhaji Bashiru Mohamed, are in police custody assisting with investigations.

An altercation reportedly escalated into chaos, leading to an exchange of gunfire. The exact cause of the violence remains under investigation.

The injured individuals are receiving medical treatment, while the body of the deceased has been sent to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
