ONMA MCE plants trees to mark Green Ghana Day

The Municipal Chief Executive of Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly (ONMA) Mr. Boye Laryea has lauded the initiative by President Akufo-Addo to institute the Green Ghana Day.

The day is set aside to plant some five million trees across the country.

It is also another giant step by the government to ensure the country’s forest cover and the environment at large is protected.

Speaking at the event on Friday, Mr. Laryea in a message said the President’s vision of planting trees is laudable with positive prospects for the environment.

According to him, the initiative is an indication of the President’s love for the environment and his question to preserve the environment for posterity.

He assured that the Assembly is going to intensify the tree planting and keep an eye on the progress of the trees planted.

This he said would prevent people from uprooting the trees indicating that the laws will deal with all saboteurs.

Present at the ceremony The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey.

Aside from Mr. Quartey and Mr. Laryea, some Chiefs in the Municipality as well as the Tesano Police Commander, Oduro Ananing took turns to plant trees to commemorate the day.
