Open letter to John Dramani Mahama: Don’t leave NDC in limbo

One of the greatest characteristics of quality leadership is to nurture future leaders who share the same ideology and philosophy and would continue the same in the future.

It was in this spirit that Former President Jerry John Rawlings chose and nurtured Prof John Evan Attah Mills. After the tenure of J.J. Rawlings, Prof. J.E.A. Mills continued with the vision and ideologies of his predecessor.

Prof. J.E.A. Mills in turn chose you, John Dramani Mahama and prepared and nurtured you, and immediately after his unfortunate demise, you were able to build on the legacies of your mentor.

Now is your turn, John Mahama to be measured by your legacy as a true leader. You cannot, and never leave any vacuum after the end of your term as the next president of Ghana. Anything contrary to the path laid down by your predecessors would be a grave mistake and a disservice to yourself and the party in general.

The choice of your running mate should be someone who can be moulded, and mentored and can immediately take over the mantle of leadership and uphold the principles and values of the NDC while mirroring your image. The line of succession must continue.

Note that functional leaders produce many future leaders and not many followers. What are you passing down and who is to build upon it? The story of ex-president Kufour is a case in point.

May this letter find you well
