Over 300 Junior High School students have benefited from a Young Leaders Patriotic Mentorship Programme, a dynamic initiative designed to cultivate a new generation of tech-savvy, civic-minded, and future-ready leaders.
The programme, spearheaded by The Triage Centre/Sangy Global in collaboration with Lifetime Mentor and Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, officially kicked off in March 2025 with its debut session in Weija Gbawe.
Students there engaged in interactive workshops on leadership, critical thinking, and teamwork.
The April edition launched last weekend, drawing students from five schools across Okaikwei Central. The sessions focused on Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, key tools in shaping tomorrow’s leaders.
Participating schools and student numbers included: Apenkwa Presbyterian Basic: 261 pupils; Tesano Basic: 20 pupils; Answarudeen Islamic Basic School: 61 pupils; Apenkwa Presbyterian Basic T: 96 pupils and Abeka 2 Basic: 6 pupils.
Each Saturday, students gather for immersive, hands-on mentorship sessions aimed at strengthening their practical skills in technology and problem-solving while nurturing leadership and collaboration.
Organisers have announced plans to scale up the programme across the entire constituency.
“The goal is to create confident, capable leaders who can navigate real-world challenges with competence and character,” said a representative from The Triage Centre.
In addition to mentorship, students receive guidance from seasoned professionals, preparing them for academic and professional futures.
The current phase of the programme will culminate in a graduation ceremony on the final Saturday of April, where students will present the knowledge and skills they’ve acquired.
March also saw the launch of several impactful initiatives under the same umbrella: The Paint Ghana Project, which began at Weija Presby JHS and engaged over 680 students, aims to beautify school environments across Ghana; The Pre-Emergency Health Training Programme, which imparts vital first-aid and life-saving skills at the community level and the National Rotation/Student Nurses and Midwives Mentorship Programme, which ushered in 30 mentees for guided professional development.
With its unique blend of mentorship, patriotism, and technology training, the Young Leaders Programme is not only transforming lives in Okaikwei Central but is also preparing to expand nationwide—empowering students across Ghana to lead with vision, purpose, and skill.
